The Story Exchange

Cultivating curiosity and wonder by looking closely, sketching, photographing, and collaging.

Artist Allison Belolan standing in a white room facing the camera and smiling.

Hey there!

I’m Allison Belolan.

Artist & Observer

My art is all about seeing, noticing, and responding. As someone who is constantly inspired by what surrounds me, I am filled with a healthy sense of wonder and a never-ending curiosity.

In art and life, I take time to understand the nuances of a situation before engaging. This mindset is perfectly suited to collage.

Collage allows me to take my time and explore the materials, meanings, and possibilities it presents.

I begin with fervent documentation, then move into a creative storm of experimentation and play.  In the aftermath of the storm, I begin to piece parts together and form more purposeful compositions using handmade papers, repurposed papers, and more.
